Going Beyond Forgiveness - Show Some Compassion
Here’s a question for you: if someone tried to mug you, what would you do? Would you run? Try and fight them off? Cry for help? Think about it for a moment.
One thing I’m betting you wouldn’t do, is hand over your wallet, and then offer them your coat too as they’re walking away. And then take them out for dinner.
That’s exactly what Julio Diaz did, and you can read about his incredible compassion here. Take five minutes of your day. It’ll restore some of your faith in humanity.
“The manager comes by, the dishwashers come by, the waiters come by to say hi,” Diaz says. “The kid was like, ‘You know everybody here. Do you own this place?’”
“No, I just eat here a lot,” Diaz says he told the teen. “He says, ‘But you’re even nice to the dishwasher.’”
Diaz replied, “Well, haven’t you been taught you should be nice to everybody?”
“Yea, but I didn’t think people actually behaved that way,” the teen said.
Diaz asked him what he wanted out of life. “He just had almost a sad face,” Diaz says.
The teen couldn’t answer Diaz — or he didn’t want to.

I read this story and I was stunned.. it warmed my heart
Never did it occur to me to do something like that.. at least not out of kindness but rather out of intense fear ..and then resentment
